Made You Look is a series of four human figures with sheep heads, all staring at something that isn’t there.
Naturally, you look too.
The work plays with a small piece of herd behaviour we rarely notice in ourselves: when other people suddenly look, point or focus their attention somewhere, we tend to follow before we have any idea why.
Giving the figures sheep heads makes that behaviour a little more obvious — and a little harder to take seriously.
Nothing is actually happening. There is nothing to see. Yet the figures manage to create a point of interest simply by behaving as if there is one.
Made You Look turns an automatic human reaction into a small public experiment.
And, if it works, you have already participated.
