Dennis is a desk lamp with a very simple job: stay awake and provide light.
Sadly, Dennis is not particularly good at the first part.
He gets tired. He slouches. Sometimes he would clearly rather be doing nothing at all. Which is inconvenient for a lamp, but quite understandable for almost everyone else.
Dennis The Desklamp turns an ordinary functional object into something with a character, a mood and a small internal conflict. The moment a lamp starts looking tired, it becomes strangely difficult not to feel something for it.
Nothing about Dennis has really changed. He is still just a lamp.
We are the ones who started caring.
