Banana Tree started with a simple thought: what happens when something looks wrong, but not wrong enough to dismiss immediately?
A regular tree was filled with bananas. The image is absurd, but strangely convincing at the same time. Bananas grow on trees, after all. Just not this one.
The work plays with that small moment of doubt — when something familiar suddenly stops behaving the way you expect it to. For a second, the image seems to make sense. Then it doesn’t. Then, perhaps, it almost does again.
By making a small change to an ordinary situation, Banana Tree creates a brief interruption in what we accept as normal.
Sometimes all it takes is a few bananas in the wrong tree.
